For all of you that think it's okay for old people to drive really really slow...I hope you realize that they aren't trying to drive safely, they're only producing "road rage"...& driving 25 in a 55 is illegal! there are laws that say we can't drive too slowly...

I dont think they realize it. A mixture of poor reflexs, poor eye sight, poor hearing, and not paying attention to detail, means they do what they want. They should have their license at all. And this is not me being mean. This is me living in Florida, and knowing most of our accidents here are at the fault of the old people who should not be behind the wheel.

Either the person can not see, or needs his eyes honestly examined. The older you get the slower you drive. Like my grandma she will not drive freeways because she thinks 55 is too fast for her. I know it's frustrating, but I would leave a little bit more early for work. I know we are all pressed for time at times, but set your alarm clock 10 minutes fast so that you can avoid ppl like that hopefully.

If she would not save up with the triumphing site visitors and is using plenty decrease than the fee shrink, her using is unsafe and provides a probability to herself and others. My uncle grew to become into stopped on the expressway by making use of a Calif. highway Patrol officer by way of fact he grew to become into using too slowly on the expressway (even too sluggish for the slowest lane). The policeman advised him to take the city streets relatively. He did no longer get a cost tag, purely a warning. After that factor, uncle in no way drove on the expressway - he left the using to my aunt. even regardless of the undeniable fact that an older guy or woman can see nicely sufficient to force and has appropriate reaction time, the strategies could no longer take-in and technique tips as quickly as before. Being careful is why I force slower than I as quickly as did. i'm no longer as aggressive as before. I easily have constantly seen myself a good and secure motive force and have pushed for some years yet comprehend that quicker or later, i'm going to ought to stop using.

There are a few reasons. One is the fact that they are unsure of them selves. Reflexes have slowed.
Another is retirement , They're in no rush.
I hate more the left lane dick , who believes because he's doing the speed limit , he can just stay and cruise in the passing lane and every one must either pass him on the right or stay in line.
I sometimes lose patience with the Elderly . Like in your scenario. That was uncalled for.

Old age is not a disease - it is inevitable.
I imagine they drive slow because traffic and speed limits have increased so since they first drove.
Don't be too hard on them. Statistics show that their rate of accidents is the same as teen drivers.

True Story that makes ya' go..."OMG! That explains so much!"
I was talking to a senior citizen about driving habits, and mentioned that it's almost "as if" senior citizens slow down to green lights, and she said...
"We do..."
And then she explained that their decision making process is slower, so that yellow lights cause a slight "panic" in them because they don't have enough mental time to decide whether to go through or stop...so they anticipate the yellow by slowing down to the green...
I slapped my forehead and thought..."Of course! They slow down to green lights...and lane changes are the same way...it requires "fast" decisions that they aren't capable of anymore...
Gong!
"That explains so much!"

Many older people cannot see as well as they used to, and their reflexes are slower than a person who is younger. They drive slower because of this. Please try to take into account that , and that many are also very frightened of highways, especially the high speeds reached by people that consider them "stupid" rather than elderly.

The key word here is "limit" which is not to be intrepided as a mandatory speed. Statistics shows older people are MUCH safer more courteous drivers than ages 16-30 yr. old drivers. Ease off of us "older" drivers, with a lot of luck maybe one day you to will learn to slow down and enjoy the ride.
