anything that is hotter than it's surrounding environment - pretty much that is the definition of heat...

that is how heat works

it will give more heat off based on the difference between it and its surrounds

there are 3 types of heat transfer to make it a bit more clearer

1. Convection - where heat is transferred between a solid an a fluid - this is governed by the turbulence at the surface of the solid as well as the temperature difference

2. Conduction - this is heat transfer within a solid or between a solid and another solid. This is driven solely by the temperature difference and the resistance to heat transfer within the solid

3. Radiation - this is where heat is transferred between a solid or liquid at generally higher relative temperatures and is generally not dependant on the surrounding environment but is dependant on the surface temperature of the solid doing the radiating. Interestingly enough, the radiation heat transfer is increased with an increase in temperature to the 4th power - which is quite alot don't you think.

I know you will laugh, but an extremity (arm/leg) that is clotted off gives off ALOT of heat. They get HOT, swollen and red.

That will keep you warm. Gross, but very true.
