I have to file a complaint against the selling agent for a home I bought (closed) where he didn't ensure the pest clearance was complete prior to escrow close and now I have $20K in pest work that needs to be done. I wouldn't have bought the house if I knew it was this bad! I'm planning on going through the CA Dept of Real Estate to complain, but have no idea what to expect. Anyone have something similar happen?

Agent represented the pest was clear and it wasn't. We moved in, found it was not repaired and the agent has admitted negligence, but blames the contractor for not 'catching' how bad it was when he attempted to fix it.

All agents work under a broker. I would find out what broker is responsible for your agent and call them and issue a complaint.

Also, here's a link to a Consumer's Guide to Filing Complaints. Go for it!! I have had so many bad experiences with unqualified agents operating in the State of CA.

Go get 'em!!

As much as I hate to tell you this, insuring that pest control was completed was not HIS responsibility. It was YOURS, as the buyer of the property. You probably will not get redress in this situation unless you can somehow prove that the agent involved misrepresented the condition of the property intentionally.

Usually there's a neighborhood truly property fee for your state or neighborhood neighborhood that problems truly property agent licenses and strategies court cases got in opposition to unique dealers. You will have to appear up the identify of this fee for your neighborhood and get in touch with them up. Sometimes the phone book will even have a "who to name" record for matters like this.
