What is the difference between virtual image created by a converging lens to the one created by a diverging lens?

The diverging lens produces an upright virtual image that is smaller than the object. The converging lens produces an upright larger virtual image. See the ref. The converging lens can also produce another image resembling a virtual image (it is seen "in" the lens) but apparently not considered one. This happens when the object is further from the lens than the focal length, producing a real image. If you view the lens from beyond the real image you will see an inverted smaller image of the object.
