Actually the living things are grouped into 5 kingdoms: monera, protista, fungi, plant and animal.
If you just want two categories, they should be procaryotes and eucaryotes.

Generally speaking it would be plants and animals (mammals are included in animals).
Actually, now living things are grouped into plants, animals, fungi, protists, and archaea.
