Try a long thin ruler - I have had a cast before and the itching is crazy.
Also, try to stay off of it as much as possible. The itching will also be worse if your cast gets hot and sweaty - so that is why I mentioned staying off of it - and also it will help the pain.
Did the doc not give you anything for pain. Since you are 14, do not take aspirin - ask your Mom or Dad to call you local 24 hour pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist for a recommendation.

All you can do for the pain is probably Tylenol or Ibuprofen but not more than the recommended dose as these can damage your liver. As far as the itching gos I would try Benedryl but remember it can make you drowsy. When I was a kid I broke my arm and yes the itching was bad , I took a wire coat hanger and bent it in half so that there were no sharp points to get stuck with and used the bent end for some relief. just make sure it is long enough so that the two loose ends are sticking out at all times so that it doesn't get stuck.
Good luck and remember its only a few weeks and look how many good friends you really have.

The pain will go away soon.... but the itchy will NOT.... does your mom KNIT????? when I broke MY ankle (twice) I used a knitting needle (they are LONG and usually made of a very VERY light metal material and look kind of like really long nails... they bend however you must be EXTREMELY careful when using one to SCRATCH inside the cast.... you can rip your skin and cause SERIOUS trouble. Next time you go to the doctor, he probably will change the cast----bring some LOTION with you to rub on the leg after the first cast comes off to help soften all the dead dry skin that was under the old cast..

Put some ice packs on the cast to help with the swelling.
My daddy used to use a metal handled fly swatter and stick the handle down the cast for the itching. You might consider a clother hanger--torn apart--bend it--and stick down the cast. Do not use anything sharp. Good luck. Hope you heal quickly.

You could try some Aleve, but I would have tho't your Dr. sure should have given you some pain meds. for at least the first week. A wk. of them is not ging to hurt you honestly. I wore a cast too, from my fingers to my elbow, & it was rite in the heighth of summer. Know what you mean about the itching! I took a ruler & that helped me. You could also take a wire coat hanger & have your dad cut & pad it well w/duck tapel That w/also hlp as you can actually bend it to "fit" the space better..HOPE & KNOW you'll be feeling better soon tho. Take care, honey...(^-^)

They didn't give you pain killers? Call the hospital back and have them call some in. Ask about Benedryl for the itching. You will not be able to scratch that far down in the cast (sorry) but the Benedryl might help.

For the pain, you can take advil or ibuprofen. If that is not working, call your doctor. For the itching you can try benadryl or other oral antihistamines. If these don't work, try folding a paper plate in half and using it to scratch gently. If you use a wire hanger, you can end up damaging your skin and leaving permanent scars. Be careful and I hope you feel better.

The pain will lessen very soon, but I'm sure the doctor told you or your parents which pain meds you can have. As far as the itching goes...unravel a wire hanger and stretch it out. It will fit inside the cast and be plenty long enough.

Take a piece of paper and tape the sides so you wont get a papercut. Thenn just slip it inside and gently rub it. It should get better. If it hurts, take some advil. I hope you feel better soon. Can i sign your cast? *signs your cast, KILEY* I hope you feel better soon.
