No. Unless you left the store with it, they cannot do anything.
They CAN remember who you are for future reference and ban you from the store though.
Don't steal. It comes from SOMEONE'S paycheck....

You did shoplift. Shoplifting is taking merchandise without intent of paying - you don't have to leave the store to shoplift in most jurisdictions. The fact you got to the doorway was enough to solidify that you shoplifted. And yes, they can come after you... and in many jurisdictions they can take up to 5 years to come after you!

Depends on which state you live in. In some states concealing merchandise on your person while still in the store is a crime. They have to prove intent though. I believe attempted larceny is a crime too.
Since you were planning to steal until the alarm went off it seems pretty clear you don't have a problem with theft. Eventually you will be caught.

If they stop you before you pass the checkouts, you might be able to make the case that you were going to pay for it.
However, you hit the detectors at the exit. It is obvious that you were trying to shoplift something. They have a case.

If you have passed through the alarms - you are passed the point of sale. Therefore you can be charged with Theft (which is a felony offense in my state).

Did you forget about all the hidden cameras they have?
If you get away with this~then consider it a warning. Next time you may not get so lucky.

I suppose so. Attempted murder is crime, so your state may have attempted petty larceny on the books too.
