I've made this with student's in my second grade class during halloween. (see link) The mother's always love it. I use green and orange tissue paper and let the student cut out their own shapes out of black construction paper for eyes, mouth, etc. and glue it on to make a face. The trick is leaving an opening for the tissue to come out. I place a tall can on top of the box, pull the orange tissue paper up around it, tie a ribbon around the can and paper, then remove the can.
This pumpkin theme with tissue paper can also work with a roll of toilet paper. Place orange tissue on table, place toilet paper roll on top, pull tissue around roll, and tuck excess back inside tube. The whole roll will be wrapped in orange (I wish I had a picture to show you.) Decorate and add a stem stick out from the tube. (It's a five minute project, although it sounds complicated) If you're crafty you'll figure it out! Good Luck!

This is not your typical costume but I have seen someone dressed as thunder and lightning....They used cotton on a shirt for the clouds and foil paper for the lightning on the skirt, shorts...whatever you want to use. They drew lightning bolts on the shirt and used gray paint.....a little different but fun. For simple christmas gifts you can make ornaments for your friends using those inexpensive clear glass bulbs and decorating them with pretty much anything....I've used glass beads and glue....or they have kits that you can stick pictures and words to the inside walls....Hope these help some!
