I might have to one day live in a communist state. If such should ever happen to you and the government of that "communist" state is upright in comparison with America, what do you have to complain about! This is a different twist from what I read in this thread.

No reason.
There are no Communist states.

Actually a communist state pools, knowledge, resources and talents to benefit everyone and shares hardships, illness, and destruction to support everyone.

There have been many attempts at communism but they have all fallen to totalitarianism or dictatorship.

It could work, if people could work for a greater good than their own comfort

Please please tell me how old you are.
No I not a weird old man not that weird anyway.
I just can't believe in this day and age anyone in this country would ask the questions about communism tonight.
Sorry I just realized that all was happening 20 years ago and it obviously has had time enough yet to make it in to the history books.

They control everything and don't have enough of anything.
I've personally known several people that came from Soviet Block countries and that was what they told me same as history books from my day.

I like my freedom too much. We have to watch our borders to keep people out. Communist states have to watch their borders to keep people in.

Communism has proven to be an ineffective form of government over the years.

-It does not inspire innovation.
-It does not allow for most of the freedoms we enjoy today (including freedom of speech and religion).
-It is ineffecient because everything is run by the government.

*The government basically controls your life.

A TRUE communist state would be an interesting place, and a very unique one, as there are no true communists states in existence now, nor have there been in the last 50 years, that I am aware of.

And why wouldn't I want to live there? My concerns would probably have to do with privacy, but then they do now...
