It depends where the fire is at. If it's a campfire, then I would pour water on it, or cover it with dirt. If it was a kitchen fire, (a small one I hope) I would try to smother the flames.

It depends on what it is, how big, and location.
If it's a birthday candle, just blow it out.
If a grease fire on the stove, cover with a larger pan. NEVER use water on a grease fire.
If it's the lawn mower, fire extinguisher.
If a room is engulfed, call 911.

That depends entirely on what's burning. Water is the wrong agent for an electrical or petroleum fire. If tin woman is on fire, I guess I'll just have to hose her.

I wouldn't, I would be more concerned with getting every one out than with saving stuff that can be replaced, unless it was a small fire or one that I coud put out without putting any person at risk.
