Dumbledore, Order of Merlin, First Class is indeed a Log Cabin Republican
I base this on his sticking to his guns regarding Voldermort in books 4 and 5 despite Fudge the liberal denying Voldermort and putting his head in the sand,
I really view Dumbledore as an equivalent of Bush, who lost political capitol regarding Hussien but was right for pushing for the Iraq war.
