I like the nickname Paz. Maybe its just the father in me trying to shorten it. Regarding the country singer, I wouldn't expect his popularity to extend into the majority of my daughter's lifetime. Thanks for the feedback, good or bad.

Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. I'd only use it if you do have Celtic heritage, for what it's worth, but I certainly don't view it as an absurd choice ... and certainly not naming your daughter "after" a pattern! Those sort of uninformed comments always give me a giggle. ;) Paisley is a long-used, traditional Scottish surname and place name. You didn't see a patterned crib set and think "That would be a great name for my daughter!" LOL That would be absurd. ;)

Most who use the name do so to reflect their heritage. It might be a family name, or you might have ties to the place. Perhaps you simply want to identify with Scotland. And that's fine.

And in all seriousness, the few who would honestly think she was simply named for a pattern are the same sort who'd think Argyle and Angus were named in honor of a sock and a steak! ;) Just because it's not a name you're not familiar with doesn't make it an inherently bad choice. Just as common usage doesn't make a name automatically a good one. After all, a traditional, real name that happens to be uncommon is both refreshing and intriguing. I, for one, love that. ;)

I think it's a cute name - I have a feeling her nickname will eventually become Paige. Paise/Paze/Paz is unique, and cute. But don't be surprised if Paige is "introduced" as a nickname by a friend and it sticks.
Paxton is also an Old English girl's name - means town of peace - and Pax makes a nice nickname, though Pax is also a Vietnamese name meaning Peace.

Best Wishes!

I love it! I have a fairly ordinary name and was always jealous of those kids with the "cool" names. Your daughter's name would definitely set her apart and make her unique. I think it's adorbale and i think paz for a nickname is just as cute-best of luck with the new baby!

It's kind of cute, but to be honest... I just keep thinking of Brad Paisley the country singer!

I think that Paisley is a cute name, and I think that it would be even cuter to do her room in pink paisley patterns!

I am not so sold on your nickname. I like LeeLee as it's more feminine or Pay. Paz is so boyish.

I'm not crazy about Paisley. I just can't help thinking about the ugly fabric design that is paisley.

How about Paige?

She would definitely fit in with the Hollywood Babies crowd this year...what with all the unusual and sometimes strange names they're naming their babies lately.
Paisely strikes me as a name Prince would give his daughter.
It's cute...but will she thank you for it as an adult? Will it help or hinder her in a job interview??

I think that is a cute name. It is a bit unique but not weird. I think it is feminine yet strong. I would say it is a keeper.
