Here goes:

*I want to become a teacher of English (High School level 11 or 12th graders). However, I'd also like to teach Journalism. I want English to be my major teaching focus though...

What should my major in college be? What can I do to prepare for my future career? I was thinking I could intern at a local elementary school as I complete my senior year of High School.

Anymore advice regarding becoming a teacher and what I can do in college?

I attend college this fall.

If you want to teach in public schools (which pay more than many private schools) then you need to be accredited. You can do this in a few ways:

1. Major in English Literature -- but take enough education classes to become accredited and then take a few Journalism classes so that you are able to teach that too.

2. Major in Education -- but take your electives in English Literature and journalism.

If you want to teach in private schools, you don't have to have the education classes -- but taking them gives you more options.
