Yes, it is possible for people to repress traumatic experiences.
However, if you do want to block it out, DON'T try to NOT think about it, because the more you actively try to not think about it, the more you will. (For example, how long can you not think about a white bear?)
If there has been something traumatic in your life that is bothering you, it would be most helpful to talk about it and get support from someone you trust. You can also consider seeking professional help.

i don't think so. Though it can happen to some but it is not intentional. I guess it would be better if you can learn to move on and cope with it rather than trying to forget it because you are only delaying the issues and you'll have to face it at another time. It will also help if you can have someone to talk to or perhaps do some counseling.

If you feel so much emotion you can make yourself go mentally numb, I'm dealing with a lot of stress in my life right now and I'm tired of being all emotional and crying easily so I've made myself feel mentally numb until I feel like I can better deal with my emotions. It can be both good and bad doing that. I'm sorry if your dealing with a hard situation we all go through them and they are always hard to cope with, but you'll make it through just stay strong. Good Luck.

Yes it is, as a Christian the Holy Spirit can help you to forget the past or a moment in the past and move on with your life, the old devil always wants to remind us of when we have been hurt because he loves to hurt us. People can forget though with the help of Jesus Christ.

It's not healthy to block things out. It is good to "feel" whether it is bad or good......and this way you are dealing with it. When you "deal" with a situation....over time, it gets easier -- if it's really bad, it may not go away but it will get better.

Traumatic events cause you to forget. However it is possible some day you will get the memory back. I will pray for you.
Best of Luck to you.
If you think it is serious go see your doctor.

you mean block it on purpose? like in the movie eternal sunshine of a spotless mind? i think maybe if you went to a hypnotherapist they could help maybe....but its not 100%. but i dont think we should ever block our pain....its what helps us become strong, and prepares us for our next lives....pain is what lets us know we are alive, and without it life would mean nothing....we could never know the good without the bad, embrace them both...all pain is an opportunity to gain enormous self awarness and self respect.....

I think it is possible. My father died and at his memorial I have no memory of my daughter singing Over the Rainbow. In fact, I have little memory of the entire memorial. I think we just shut down sometimes.

no, some things u just cant forget and if you do there are things that recall that memory for example if you smoke by the window and you stop smoking every time you go near a window you will picture yourself smoking.
