I notice some are very respectful and some are disrespectful. Why are the ones who are disrespectful like that?

The first and best place to look would be their mothers and how they were treated as boys. I have wondered a number of things about these people (if we can legitimately call them that). I've always wondered if they hate their mothers as much as they apparently hate the women on this site? But I know from personal experience, that is neither justification nor a license to hate all women. I personally hate my own mother, but I don't hate all women. Fortunately as I child, I had the good sense to pursue other mature adult females to fill the role my own mother failed in. And I also had a loving grandmother, who made a tremendous positive impact on my life.

So, do these men have no positive images of women at all? Would their perfect world be one without women, and a continuously unending supply of personal lubricants to meet their own needs? But even if that could be, who do they fantasize about being with when they do? How much of their personal income is disposed on services respectful men would never have to consider? I mean, if you really hate women so much, what's the point in having a penis?

This very subject has often been a topic of great speculation by regulars in this forum. We see the disrespect all the time. Luckily, it is only a few people who are being disrespectful, but some of them have more than one account (some have many), so it looks like it's a lot of people, but really it's only a few. Why do they do it? Well, we've asked them this very question. We've been told things like "I'm just joking around" to "I hate feminists and I'm trying to make them mad". Most of us would probably agree that there's truth in those statements. There are probably other reasons they do this, as well. Perhaps a bad relationship (or two) with a woman. Unresolved conflicts. Perhaps abuse at the hands of a female. A bitter divorce or break-up. Perhaps their anger about these things have been projected toward "all women." Maybe a mental disorder or two (wouldn't surprise me.) Also, quite possibly an inferiority complex...low self-esteem, insecurity. Who knows, really...aside from what a couple of them have truthfully said, we can only really guess about the rest.

Well, it can be that way between both genders.
When someone who's had a bad experience with the opposite sex and who goes on to constantly act disrepectfully or respectfully, the difference is their level of emotional maturity.
I've been hurt, some of the things said here about me have cut pretty deep, but I only either turn the other cheek or at worst, retaliate against that particular person. As tempting as it is to blame all the opposite sex for the rudeness of one of it's members, I realise that isn't fair at all and is immature.
Gotta have some faith in the opposite sex and try to think positively, even if there are a few that let it down.
WaswisGirl, you hit the nail on the head. I don't know how many times I've been nice to men and have tried to support them(try hard to reach out), and I just get crapped on all the time. Am bloody tired of it. It is socially acceptable now to punish all women, even when they try to do the right thing.

This first part most of you won't like, just keep reading is all I ask. The way I see it is a man is going to give you what you ask of him; you ask for disrespect he's gonna give it to you, you ask for respect he's gonna give it to you; just like you ask him to walk all over you and he'll do just exactly that. Men do not think in details they think in facts. **Now having said that a man who has a poor opinion of women has never been taught any different. Take my ex, his mom couldn't handle him no way, no how, so she gave in and just let him have his way. Now to this very day; in addition to being a pee-poor daddy; he treats his own wife poorly. Bottom line is, it comes from the mom. Mom's have got to be on their toes or else...!

honestly, it's like asking why a murderer is a murderer. i'm not saying that to be dramatic or anything; it's just an apt comparison because the issue is so complicated. probably their upbringing, low self esteem, ignorance, apathy, and selfishness influence their bigotry and misogyny. i think the largest reason anyone is prejudiced against a certain group is an inability to identify with another person.

Men seem to be disrespectful to women who are random strangers rather than females they know. So many times some jerk yells out "nice rack" or "nice azz" in public like at a gas station. I always ignore the rude comments and wonder if he talks like that to his mom or sister, my guess is he does not. I think they think they can get away with it. I think it shows how they are pigs and have absolutely no communication skills, for christ sake, they can't even hold in thier thoughts in their tiny little brains, they have to scream it out without thinking of consequences.

It is the way they are socialized into their gender roles. It happens at home, school, with friends, everywhere, but depending on their socializing then it would explain why some men are respectful and some are not.

In my experience, the men that were the most disrespectful were the ones that feared women most. They don't understand them and that scares the poo right outta them. As a defense they get mean.

Very low self esteem. He does not think that any woman would spend her time listening to the likes of him out of her free will. So by bringing her down time and again ( after a while some of us start to believe him ), he lets her know that he is the only one who would have her. Unsavory tactics of a pathetic worm...

I think some men have had very bad experiences with a woman or a couple of women (usually their mothers and/or ex-wives), and blame most women for the behavior of a couple of people. Since feminists are supportive of women's independence, feminists are a good target to place the blame of how a few women act, even though feminists promote equality, not immature or irresponsible behavior.

You'd think a lot more women would be upset with men, since more women are sexually molested, raped, and battered by men, then men are by women, but that is not socially acceptable. But it is socially acceptable in our society to dislike and denigrate women.
