The "mainstream" media is Liberal if you're a conservative, and Conservative if your a liberal. I've heard knuckleheads on both sides use that argument.
The media reports stories that they think people will be interested in hearing. And they report it in a way that think will get your interest. The only agenda they're interested in grabbing the most viewers. Individual bias enters into it, but you have to be a little screwed up if you think they have some kind of political agenda.
Example: Iraq. Big story and a lot of flag waving when it started. Now their reporting on all the failures and problems. Just doing their job and giving the people what they want.

I believe it is Liberal because of what my ears have heard over the many years that I've watched or listened to the various broadcasts.
All you have to do is listen to the questions they ask of Non-Democrats and then try to remember the last time you heard a similar question asked of a Democrat.
Also, I notice the way the questions are framed.
I was a CNN viewer at one time. Then I started noticing very important details which were often omitted. -As if we're all to dumb to learn the rest of the story on our own.
I hope they enjoyed my ratings while they had them!
(Besides, Larry King started to look more and more like a giant mosquito sitting behind that desk.)

The media is (in a sense) free from Government intervention - it is not owned by the Government and as there is a free market in the press the government cannot control who owns it. 'Liberal' can refer to the liberal democracy this creates in the media sphere as anyone can own media and express the views they hold.
I don't think it is being referred to 'liberal' in the political sense as obviously there are lots of views being shown out there with Fow being a prime example of conservative journalism.

The lamestream media is mostly liberal with a Fox exception
and it pursues its own agenda. Notice that in presidential
politics they eschew issues and concentrate on personalities, giving an inordinate amount of time to the
so-called frontrunners.

A lot depends on your point of view. But if you score the media on how they report, you will find all media biased with the exception of some with a opposing commentator on some just to make it seem balanced.

Because it is more often than not, liberal. There are examples of conservative media to be sure, but on the whole, most are slanted to the left. Depends on your point of view don't you think?
