the federal budget is 480 trillion dollars so that's not as much as it looks. If you don't want debt for our children, privatize Social Security and put healthy welfare recipients to work.

Sure!
In fact, we should divide the debt Bush has mounted in the past seven years and divide it by 300 million Americans, see how much each of us owes and make THAT the tax!
That'd end the war quick . . . and probably the Bush Presidency along with it!

Is it right to continue an illegal war and a murderous one at that? Bush people say that there is no way out and Congress believes him . . . but, Congress and the President are wrong! Should they continue to kill and murder people? Bush and his cronies seem to think so. Murder is alright to them, even the murder of American citizens who are willing to testify against them! How can any man be in favor of the Bush administration on that basis!

If you want to get upset about $600.00 in taxes per person , if Hi-liar-y is in power you`ll get taxes doubling that and you won`t even be financing a war ? Just as Hi-liar-y has said , " I have a million ideas` , America cannot afford them all " !! Libs` said the same stuff before and during "The Gulf War", and a few years after Clinton was gone we got a tax cut . You act as if that is the only debt the USA is going face in the coming years ! You better worry about winning the war against terrorism , or your children and grandchildren will be washing their feet at the airports before facing Mecca to the east 5 times a day and praying to Allah !!!

Congress should at least make him accountable for it. There should be measurable benchmarks attached to any appropriations. All military contracts should be looked at for competitive bidding. Any contractors that violate the terms of their contract or overcharge the government should be immediately terminated.

i say no.
like all spoiled little children, bush needs to stop getting his own way.
pelosi and pelosi alone has the power to bring items to the floor for a vote.
i say this doesn't even get the benefit of a vote.
congress should not even consider it, or even be willing to discuss it.
bush and the repubes need some extremely tough love here - and if this is what it takes.
then no more money for insane for-profit wars.
let the insaniacs on the right sweat for a while for a change - i mean let them really sweat this one out...

If $600 of my tax payment is going to the war in Iraq that means that the other 82% of my tax payment is going to useless social programs. I find that a little more outrageous than money being spent for the security of our nation.

Wouldn't it be easier just to NOT give Commander Bush the money for his little boondoggle, and bring some of ours guys home alive? I know Dubya likes playing king and general and so forth, but it's gone way past the ridiculous point, and now Cheney's threatening war with Iran. Impeachment of both of them would be cheaper, saner, and better for the country.

Most of the debt will get paid off after the war just as it has after every other war in American history. Almost all of the wars America has fought in have caused a debt, this one is no different.
