I recall Harry talking to I think Nearly Headless Nick about being a ghost. He wanted to know if his parents could have been ghosts and Nick explained the choice.

I can't remember which book (If you can recall a chapter or even beginning, middle or end of story would be great too!)

Thanks

5th -- it was just after Sirius died -- and Harry was asking mainly about Sirius, not his parents.

This is from Order of the Phoenix - when Sirius dies Harry runs after Nick to find if Sirius can come back as a ghost.

It is the fifth book, i think. (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). I think Harry asked this towards the end of the book because his godfather Sirius had died, and he wanted to know if Sirius could become a ghost.

he doesn't talk about his parents to Nick he talks about his Godfather sirius to nick in the end of book 5 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix I believe it's either the very last chapter or second to last chapter of the book.

Actually it was fairly early on, in either the first or the second book because it was while Harry was being asked to come to Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday party.

i think it's in the chapter after the chapter where Sirius died (Grim Defeat?)...

QUOTE
"I was afraid of death," said Nick. "I chose to remain behind. I sometimes wonder whether I oughn't to have...Well, that is neither here nor there...In fact, I am neither here nor there..."He gave a small sad chuckle. "I know nothing of the secrets of death, Harry, for I chose my feeble imitation of life instead. I believe learned wizards study the matter in the Department of Mysteries-"
