haha, fiction is fiction. There is no need to take it seriously. If you have fun while reading a book then the book has fulfilled its destiny. LOL

First of all, it's fiction. It is not bad to read, no books are bad to read, they all expand our imaginations, our knowledge and our vocabulary. I still don't understand why Christian groups will rant and protest against Harry Potter, and not other books about wizardry. They might as well protest Halloween, (celebrating it can be seen as worshipping the devil) and all other things that have to do with the subject. And Harry Potter doesn't have anything in it that even slightly mentions the devil. You won't go to hell because you read a book. I mean, saying so would be crazy. They are really good books, there is nothing wrong with reading it.

Of course there's nothing wrong with Harry Potter. In fact there's a lot that is "right" with Harry Potter. I don't know which God would punish followers who read Harry Potter and get inspired by the lessons of nobility, tolerance and acceptance. I don't know who would inspire to become a Death Eater or Voldemort after reading Harry Potter.
So yeah, ignore all the nutters who pass judgements without understanding.

It's difficult to claim that there is *nothing* wrong with HP. In other words, the book is not perfect, or right for all people, or right for all children without parental supervision, etc. etc.
Does that make me another one of "those"?
I think that the books are fairly - but *not* entirely - harmless. Certain children, under certain circumstances, *could* be influenced in a detrimental way. It is the duty of parents to make certain that their children understand that HP is wholly fictional (if necessary), and that abilities displayed in the book are entirely devoid of any reality.
I also suspect that many conservative Christian parents will be disappointed that one of the main characters is a homosexual. Doubtless, many of these will not want their children influenced by a homosexual "hero" - not even a fictional one. This is understandable, as we Christians are supposed to oppose homosexuality on moral grounds. Again, though, I suspect that it is simply a matter of parents making it clear to their children the fate (according to their religion) awaiting any such person.
In other words, with proper parental advice, *when necessary*, the HP books are probably completely harmless.

Too me, there is no such thing as an evil book. The books dont tell you to go out and do bad. Books cant make you do anything. Everything comes back to the person in the end. It's their choices. Books are for enjoyment and people who think things in fiction can happen in real life are the ones who are at blame.
I totally agree that harry Potter is not evil.

I read from books 3-7. You're right, some people do say that it's not good because it is about magic, evil and a lot of stuff that contradicts Christian beliefs. Truthfully...once i kind of believed the fantasy of it, even though i was raised as a christian, but i realized my mistake and took my christian beliefs seriously. There's nothing wrong with the books as long as you don't allow yourself to sway on your path of what you believe.

No, there is nothing wrong with reading a series that stresses friendship, family, belonging, courage, selflessness, becoming greater than you could ever have expected to be. Those who hate is on religious grounds also have not read it.

The Harry Potter books are entertaining and well-written. They teach good values and the value of putting up with hardships and pursuing one's goals.
It's all good.
