Has anyone had a problem with false negatives on the first response early result pregnancy tests? I took a test last night and it came up with a faint positive line. Took a blood test today and it came back negative with HCG at .5, right after they called me with the test results I stupidly took another home pregnancy test and it was a darker positive. Now I'm just frustrated and disappointed. Is there anything that can cause me to keep getting false positive pregnany tests? I'm not on any fertility medicines.

Thanks!

Yes, I took two 1st response early pregnancy tests in July and both came postitive, then went to the doctors and took a blood test and that was negative! Sooo to make a long story short I was pregnant! Had a miscarriage! Now I think I am pregnant again but I am not going to take any tests.Until after a missed period for awhile.Like the end of this month!

Some times it can take a while before you can get a blood test to test positive. It happened to me and my sister. The only thing you can really do is wait and see if you miss you cycle and than take an other blood test. Just act as if you were pregnant for things like if you smoke don't and if you drink or do any kind of drugs do not even if they are prescription make sure they are safe for pregnancy

Have the health-care provider check your hCG level again. hCG the earliest biochemical marker for pregnancy. It is detected 7-10 days after conception. Health-care provider don't have to do a blood test on you to detect the hCG level, they can do a urine test and you will know the result right then and there. This saves you the agony of waiting for their phone call. If it comes out negative for you again then it is likely that you're not pregnant. Best wishes for you.

Kim,
I have heard of false negatives, but false positives are rare. I would place more weight on the HPT tests...they are rarely wrong. They detect ANY amount of HCG found in the urine.
Did you miss your period? If so, you better start a baby registry!

I would request another blood test and try another brand of HPT. Maybe even buy two brands and try both. If they are both positive then I would tell your dr to retest. Never heard of blood test being wrong but hey... you never know! Good luck let me know how it goes.
