by nature we are not meant to be monagomous.
biologically, women are meant to breed with more than one man. just in case a man hands now a genetic illness to the child...to prevent this from happening to the next child a NEW male partner would decrease the chances.

men claim they cannot be monotamous because they need multiple partners to spread their seeds.
women cant be either due to the reason i have stated above.

Biologically speaking, we can be just as promiscuous as men, we look for not only healthy males to pass on the best, strongest traits to our own offspring, but we want a strong man to provide a nest, whether he stays there or not.

I am not at all advocating a position in which women should be monogamous while men run around. In my opinion, both sexes should find relationships that suit them best -- whether they are short or long-term. However...

I think your biology is a bit off. Speaking from a strictly biological viewpoint, with no cultural values involved, keeping in mind that our instincts developed long before our cultures or birth control or modern philosophies of gender and that they are not what define us..... with no insults intended towards monogamous men or polyamorous women....

Females have a larger egg to contribute and they have fewer of them. Therefore, it serves them best to be choosy about whom they partner with. If they become impregnated by a man who does not help with the child-rearing, they have a lot to loose. It is more difficult for a single parent to raise a child than a pair of adults. (This is not to diss single parents, but rather to state that, in the past, children of single parents were simply less likely to survive due to the lack of resources.) Biologically, a female can abandon the baby (remember that, in times past, abortion and birth control were not options), but she will still have wasted 9 months of her energy with gestating a child. Those are 9 months when she could not conceive with any other partners, either. Most females, therefore, are driven to keep the child because they have already invested so much energy in its creation. It is worth it to try to raise the child to maturity on the off-chance that it will survive and reproduce, spreading her genes. However, it would have had a greater chance of survival if it had had a two-parent situation. Males are more likely to have multiple partners because they can "count on" the fact that females will most likely be driven to raise their children whether they stick around or not.

Biologically speaking, the ideal situation for a female is to pair with a long-term mate with whom she raises her children, but have multiple sexual partners and multiple fathers to her children. Females of all species have been making the best of paternity uncertainty for as long as sex itself.

But modern relationships aren't just about biology, are they?

What an excuse for the men to have.
First we are human beings with feelings that know what love is all about, we have the ability to care. All these attributes are given as so we can share our life's with the right person till death doth us apart. You can not spread children around the world without a fathers nurturing. This human race would not survive.

If that is so, then all the questions and answers regarding fidelity and cheating have just been answered. Thank you for clearing that up. Now we know why women cheat without explanation. Gee, That will almost eliminate a whole section of interest in this forum. They should give recognition to you for that insightful information.

Both genders have a biological need to procreate with the strongest specimen. That does NOT excuse either for sleeping around or for cheating on a partner.
I have no respect for men who sleep around so why would I think any differently when a woman does it?

Honestly, I think women on today's society are meant to be Nogamous, as in they aren't interested in sex anymore. I believe there is something in the water. Women seem to be all about getting married, but then cut-off the sex in their lives for some reason.

We have evolved as a species. Just because that was the way it was when our species maybe had just a few thousand in it's population doesn't mean that's the way we're going to be now.
Most people tend to be happier in a monogamous relationship, usually when they're older.
There's nothing wrong with sleeping around when you're young and free, sure I've done it. I've slept with tons of guys.
Don't listen to people who say you can't just because you're female. There's nothing wrong with getting some pleasure from guys, as long as it's all safe.
