The libs are trying their best.....

* Passing resolutions against Turkey to alienate our only Arab ally. This would cut off a military supply line in northern Iraq, endangering our soldiers, and stirring up the Turks against the Kurds, the only Iraqis who are firmly on our side.

* Threatening to cut off funding for the troops yet again.

* New York Times either ignoring or burying every positive story about the progress in Iraq.

* Pathetically obsessed libs like Russ Feingold can't stop trying to push impeachment of President Bush.

So, you can be sure the libs won't rest until the terrorists get their way.

A thirty percent improvement for a quarter year is a great improvement. Your other conclusions seem a to be either premature or foolish, but I don't expect logic from conservatives. But I'd feel good about reading that in the news (hadn't seen that article yet, I read the liberal paper on the way to work--I'll read the conservative one on the way home). But come on: 'winning the war on terror'--I won't even touch that--the terrorists are still at large, plotting, scheming, and releasing fresh video; 'surge is working brilliantly'--it's only a surge if some of the boys come back, otherwise its just an escalation; 'Makes the military look good'--the military pretty much always looks good, and 'makes Bush look good', come on, you were already in love with him. Please, prove that conservatives love idiots and will vote for the biggest most idiotic candidate that is put before him, as long as he can smile while he spits out the garbage he speaks. Vote Jojo or regerudd for best answer.

There hasn't been a 70% decrease in violence in Iraq.

There has been a 70% decrease in violence in a few very specific localized regions.

And there has been a 70% decrease in religious-based violence -- because the remainder is now being categorized as politically-based violence -- in other words, the definition of "violence" was changed to make the numbers match.

Try looking at the real data -- and the details -- not just the headlines.

That must mean there are no more American soldiers dying. And the Shia and the Sunnis and the Kurds have all kissed and made up and are now holding their hands and singing KUMBAYA!!! Peace has broke out and they are carrying pictures of George Bush and Dick Cheney thru the streets so thankful that we came and brought republican/parlimentary government to their uneducated backward sandpit.

And who knew that just a few thousand more americans there for a few more weeks would destroy Al Queda in Iraq while at the same time completely discrediting the Mahdi army. IT IS TRUELY A MIRACLE THAT SAINT GEORGE HATH WRAUGHT!! The neo cons KNEW what they were doing all along ...they just needed more time .......you know Nixon could have done the same in Vietnam ..he just needed more troops and time.

As expected a denial that the violence has decreased. Democrats simply deny news that does not support their reality.

By the same way I recover from there being less violence in Iran than Iraq. Therefore, if the level of violence is the measuring stick for success, the US has already succeeded in Iran.

That would be a good thing if true. Let's all pray for a 100% decrease.

Depends, where you obtained this information, it's getting close to an election and for Bush to request more money for this war. Our troops are still being killed not to mention Iraqi citizens. We cannot afford health care for our children then precede to spend billions on another country, it's insane..........

The violence has not decreased. The manner in which certain things are classified as trackable violence has changed. Violence is not as done as much as you would like to think.
