President John F. Kennedy attacked the Bay of Pigs, but this was before missiles were found in Cuba. Citing your sources would be a great help to me, even if you're citing yourself.

Kennedy did not attack Cuba. Anti-communist paranoia was almost as rampant in the late fifties, early sixties and terrorist paranoia is today. The CIA, prodded by American business interest and the very vocal exile Cuban community, came up with a faulty plan to have an exile army invade Cuba and topple Castro. Too bad the fools didn;t bother learning from recent history and didn't provide any air cover. The Bay of Pigs was the biggest fiasco until the US invaded the sovereign state of Iraq.

Lil Bro is right, I was there. We, I should say our units were called up for the emergency. We stood on the shores in Florida, geared up and waiting to load the planes for a "jump" into Cuba.

I remember when there were flyer's going around the bases looking for mercenaries to help fight, they were offering 10,00 to a man with experience to fight. This was for a six month contract.

We were also notified by the base commanders that any man signing up for this campaign would be court marshaled, it''s against the law to be in the American military and serve a foreign government.

The plans were made by the CIA during Eisenhower's presidency, and Kennedy approved them. He later regarded it as a terrible error in judgment, but thought he would be raked over the coals by anti-Communists.
