You CAN see the bottom of a pool, it's usually magnified a little bit but YOU CAN see it.
And...
You should watch Animal Planet or something. Of course there are living things on the bottom of the ocean.

Its a scientific fact that most parts of the ocean floor contains living things. these things create their own light because of the lack of light at such deep spots in the ocean. google it. the pictures of these fish are really neat looking. as to why the light doesnt reach down there, im not 100 percent sure. its just too deep i suppose.

Light is attenuated as it passes through water. If you know what this means then you will know what this means and if you don't then you won't.

There are tons of unknown living creatures living on the ocean floor at great depths

ok when light hits a transparent object it goes right throught without changing anything done to the light....but there is a case when in some objects the light goes in and when it enters it breaks off in many diffrent directions d in many diffrnt forms...you know when you see a rainbow form from su coming through a piece of glass...its the same thing the light breaks apart.....and to your other ?...yes there is life at the bottom of the ocean and they dont need light have you ever heard of adaptation?? it is when a organism adapts to the enviroment that they live in..like polar bears adapted with their white fur...the plants dont use light and photosysnthesis but instead they make their food and needs out of chemicals they break down from their envoriment...they adapt to their enviroment
