I mean, he never shows any emotion. Every time they show him he looks scary, like in a horror movie. He even walks like those zombies from Night of the Living Dead.

I always though of his semi-lifeless pre-corpse as likened more to the Emperor from STAR WARS.

Slumped over in the shadowy dugout, peering out holding his bat cane or like when he would yank yet another horrible starting or middle relief pitcher with his crooked shaky finger just like The emperor did to Luke Skywalker trying to draw him to the dark side.

The Emperor is dead, now bring in the clowns...

He doesn't do anything at all. I really don't know why he was paid 7.5 million dollars. He rarely had to make a very thought-after decision on pitching change. He did not change the batting lineup except the media or George clamoured for a change. He didn't push the players to hustle or play hard. Of course he couldn't say a harsh word to demi-gods like Jeter, A-rod and Posada even when they play like little leaguers. He was Steinbrenner's "yes man" and George realized that he needed a different one.

Yeah, he coaches like one. He never argues, barely ever bunts or hit and runs, and just lets the players play. Though that worked well in the late 90's when the teams were stacked, it doesn't cut it now when the Yankees have been finding tougher competition.

Who do you want him to be, Lou Pinella? In New York, you have class. (you hear that George?) And Joe had plenty of it.
