I know these reasons: you using force to accelerate, gravity so we don't fly off, also the Universal force of Gravitation.........

There is also the principle of inertia - an object in motion tends to remain in motion until some outside force acts upon it. Either something blocking your way, or your free will decision to stop. It also works moving in any direction.

You left out friction. If there was no friction then the force you applied to the ground would mostly be exerted nowhere and you would slip, ever tried walking on a frozen lake?, gravity only exerts your normal force, and so F(friction) = "mu"N where "mu" is the index of friction and N is the force down caused by you and the acceleration caused by gravity, this equals your force backwards so that you can move forwards

In reality, walking is just an "inverted pendulum". It is the same principle that makes a wheel turn when pushed. Your body "falls forward" and it is stopped from falling by the other leg... and so on...
