What happened to Fred?

I knew
this guy
his name
was Fred
who lived
down by
the rivers
ledge
One night
up state
poured down
some rains
and Fred
was never
seen again

Where Fred went
is anyone's guess.
from the force of the wind and
the rain I feel that it knocked Fred
in the river. My question was why was he
so close. Another possibility would be
he disappeared along with the current
after all the current can pull even the strongest swimmer in the water.

from them

Fred ate

was fed.

old boots
were made
of lead.
The water
rose and
Fred went
down.

drown.

dead.
