For me it was baseball.
I grew up with four brothers, so there was absolutely NO CHANCE of me growing up FEMININE! (Actually I think I would have been a tomboy even in a family of very feminine girls.)
But baseball was my passion. I can not remember when I DID NOT play the game. And back in those days there were no organised teams for "girls". It just wasn't done. Although in my public school the ONLY baseball teams the school could field were the Junior and Senior GIRLS teams...there just were not enough boys that were good at the game in the same age group!
I especially liked the two years I spent catching the 60 mph plus zingers of a girl who was destined for much greater things.
So what was YOUR favourite sport when you were young?

I loved horses myself, but they were SO MUCH bigger than me. They are still a spectator sport for me, I am afraid, although I HAVE been on horseback a few times when I could still force my hips into that posture!
And Princess Luvy...I can just see you doing that, with your cape flowing out behind you as your screamed the song at the top of your lungs! Good one.

I was competitive when playing volleyball. Players would get angry at me because I played everyone's position. We had a girlie girl on our team one time and she missed hitting the ball because her fingernail broke. Aww gee. The points, it was suppose to be all about the points!

I know what you are saying!! Pro sports is pretty much a business and no loner about the fan. In Minnesota a great cheap alternative is to try a St. Paul Saints (minor league baseball) game. It is affordable for a family of 4 the atmosphere is about the fan and the kids and it is an all around great time.

I've always liked baseball, but only the boys got to play organized sports. In grade school we played soccer - but it was a very uninformed American version of the game. We knew there was a goalie and that he/she was the only person allowed to touch the ball with hands. Beyond that we had no concept of playing positions or passing the ball. We also had a yearly grade school track meet. I wasn't much of a runner, but I won the high jump one year! I still love to watch track and field.

My family was not the sporting type. I guess with having two younger sisters my favorite "sport" was playing Barbies. It can be quite grueling... packing up all those dolls along with the clothes and accessories into our wagon and hauling it to our friends house. We would spend hours a day playing this sport!

FOOTBALL! I had just 3 brothers no sisters. Although I used to play football with the other neighbor boys. I even played football with my nephew and his friends when he was in high school and I was 40 years old then. And yes, it was tackle football, not tag or powderpuff.

I loved riding bikes. All the kids in the neighborhood would ride together. We'd pretend we were characters from Batman, I was Cat Woman and try to 'sing' the theme song. It was such a fun, carefree time.
EDIT: You are so right, it's like you were there. lol

I was always a tomboy, there never seem to be many girls living where I grew up, so I loved to play football---tackle......I still can remember taking down some of those boys and them wanting me to play on their team when we played.....
Boy I loved it......
