The highest rating for a tornado is F-5, but now it is called EF-5, the strongest known F-5 tornado was recorded in Moore, Oklahoma, with estimated wind speeds by Doppler On Wheels was at 306 mph. This was recorded in May, 1999.

Tornado scale...call the Fujita Scale F-1 to F-6....even though this scale goes to F-6...there has never been an F-6 tornado on record. There have been several F-5 tornadoes....years ago there was no warning system which resulted in many more deaths than those today...even though they may have been smaller. There are a lot of things to determine on which could be the worst.....there is how wide and how long the path is that it stayed on the ground...then there is how much damage in dollar amounts. Lots of tornadoes hit Texas every year...number 1 on the chart....but since Texas has a lot of open country...dollar amount is less than one going through the middle of one city. You will just have to Google it and research which one you think fits your question....Type in...the worst tornado...then type in the strongest tornado...both will give you many answers...maybe you can cross reference those answers and get the all time worst.
