I want to superimpose the satellite imagery over the maps of land ownership. Can I combine them to get a better visual of the land?

Depends on the software available at your disposal. If you have ESRI ArcView its quite simple if you follow these steps.

1) Georeference the Google Earth image to the parcel fabric
2) Set the rectified image above the map
3) Set transparency of the google earth image to about 65%

Voila, you have superimposed the image

Or give it to me and I could do it for you ;)

You could come close but it would be tough. Try it and see.
