Still there. Unfortunately it behaved very badly and got demoted to a planetoid.

Yes, Earth is the third planet from the sun. No, Earth is not an exact sphere. The Earth ispudgy. It has a slight "bulge" around the Equator. We're close enough, and we're certainly not flat, but we're not on a perfectly round planet. The planets in the solar system are (in order from sun, outwards): Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, & Pluto. There is also an arguable "10th planet", but until NASA names it (and confirms it's a PLANET, not just a rock) I'll say there's nine. Also, in between Mars & Jupiter is the Astroid Belt, which some think was once a planet that exploded long ago. For (really) in-depth information, visit Wikipedia:

(sigh) Okay, where are you getting your information? Who told you (or where did you hear) that Pluto exploded?

Pluto is still there, has been all along. Its not designated a planet anymore (according to the IAU) because it only meets 2 of the 3 criteria necessary for an object to be considered a planet.

Maire: NASA had absolutely nothing to do with Pluto's status. NASA just launches rockets, it has very little to do with astronomy or science. It was the International Astronomical Union, an international body of astronomers, in 2006 which redefined what a planet was, and decided that Pluto didn't make the cut.

No. Pluto did NOT explode, but it is no longer considered a planet because it did not meet all the criteria and was too small. It's a dwarf planet now. : (

No. Pluto is still out there in orbit around our sun.

It was reclassified as a "dwarf planet" by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) because of its very small size and the extreme eccentricity of its orbit.

Pluto is no longer a planet, yes. You say you think it exploded? I think that you have got some incorrect information.

NASA scientists ( and others too, i suppose) decided that Pluto was too small to be an official planet. I hope this answers your curiosity's question.
