It is obvious who the top banana is in the NHL (with all apologies to Sidney Crosby, the best current NHLer is Joe Thornton), but which player is the best...not in the National Hockey League? That player could be in Europe, the CHL, the minors, NCAA, etc. Have fun!

Erica- The whole Kris Letang situation is puzzling. Everyone had him high on the list of potential Calder candidates, and now you tell me he was a healthy scratch in the minors? Something tells me this guy has about as much hockey passion as a fellow on the Canadiens named Patrice Brisboise...

Well, I don't know about who the "best" might be, because I can't follow that many players not in the NHL...

But some are saying Jonathan Tavares (OHL) is the next you-know-what (I like to call him "The Next Next One"). Lol.

Jared Staal isn't on the level of Tavares, but he IS a Staal (is that unfair to say?) and I've heard he could be the best out of all the Staal brothers.

Alexei Cherepanov sounds like a steal for the Rangers, since every other team who picked before them passed on him. He had more points in his rookie year in the Russian Superleague than Ovechkin, Malkin, and Kovalchuk did. He broke Pavel Bure's record for points scored by a rookie in the league. You never know how a player's going to do in the NHL until he plays in it though.

This question reminded me of something... I heard that our good friend Kris Letang was a healthy scratch for the Baby Pens the other night. Coach Todd Richards said his play has been "subpar". What. The. Heck. Happened?

I merely started gazing and no i'm not a bandwagon fan so i will answer with reference to the submit season. a million. i think of the Bruins have achieved lots. they have stepped up and characteristic fought stressful battles. Their lead decrease in a million/2 in the playoffs against the Flyers became into embarrassing, detrimental and disappointing final 12 months. This 12 months they controlled to head 4-0 (became into truly stunned because of the fact i became into haunted via final 12 months's devastating loss. It became right into a blow out.) Philly additionally wasn't proper notched like they have been in the previous. yet in some cases the Flyers did not lose via lots. Beating Montreal (not via lots) additionally became right into a defining 2d. They beat their best rival as a set. The Bruins additionally beating the Lightning honest and sq. and stepping into the Finals became into additionally an accomplishment. So congrats to them! They did it without Savard. 2. while Horton had scored the only unmarried purpose in the final game of the Lightning series. the two communities have been scoreless for 2 classes till the final 7 minutes. It became into captivating <3. And it made my birthday day after at present dazzling. 3. I could desire to assert Thomas and Horton. Thomas is an dazzling goalie. He additionally broke a private checklist for himself via saving fifty two saves in between the playoff video games (forgot which one). And he's been an asset to the group. Horton is an dazzling participant because of the fact he became into between the justifications why Boston gained a number of those video games in accordance together with his final minute scoring. 4. did not watch the huge-unfold season yet i think of they're doing extra helpful now. 5. don't have one.

Tavares is 16 for cripes sake. MANY GUYS are better than him at this point. How about Kyle Turris- better than Tavares right now? Absolutely. Actually, if you look at the Summit Series and Team Canada's potential junior team, Tavares is a 3rd or 4th liner. Tavares -LMAO. That is not to say he won't be great but come on, give your head a shake.

Right now, Scott Niedermayer is more the player than Forsberg or even Selanne... and none of the talented rookies or AHL'ers even come close to #27.

I'm going with Peter Forsberg too. He has 29 teams trying to offer him a contract. If that isn't a sign of talent, I don;t know what is.

Actually the best player in the NHL right now is Cammaleri not Thornton. the best player NOT in the NHL is Cory Cross...he had more penalty minutes than anyone outside of the NHL last year. GO CORY!!
