He asked me in the backseat of the car and I said yes right away. Needless to say, we had a daughter 7 months later!

I don't have any 'future husbands,' but I can tell you this:
1) Husband #1: It was more like a business arrangement. "You know, you're a single mother and you're just 20. You don't exactly have a bright future, yourself. I'm moving to Dubai to practice medicine. I like dating you and I can take you there with me as my wife. What do you say?" 2 days later, I said yes...
2) Husband #2: It was slightly different. "Hey there, you would like to be a wife; I have an awful lot of money, you know. You'd be happy as my wife, wouldn't you? Sure you would." I answered, "James, we've only dated a VERY short time and..." He rebutted, "Aw, come on! You would really like the lifestyle and you like me pretty well, don't you? We sure have lots of fun and you are educated and would be a wonderful reflection on me." 6 weeks later we were married...
3) Husband #3: We had been dating 6 months. We were driving through this town, Edgefield, SC which is my favorite place (reminded me of my favorite TV show, Andy Griffith. Anyway, he said, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Let's get married. Please?" Or something to that effect; I was shocked. I said yes right away.
I loved all my husbands (how weird does that sound?) but sadly, the ended in divorce. I was proposed to once on a first date. I had talked to him many hours on the phone before the date. I seem to be attracted to eccentrics. This man was very much older than I was. He'd founded a company that made fire and energency vehicles and had done well by selling it to Federal Signal at the time. Our first date was a New Year's bash. He looked at me across the table and said, "I know this is too soon for you but I just love you. Try this on." I tried 'it' on. HUGE... Then he said, "I know you might want to wait but incase you felt like it I have 2 airline tickets to Vegas in my jacket pocket." He handed them to me. (Back in 1996, paper tickets were still around...) I sweetly told him it was way too soon. But we dated and he was really the only man I ever loved in that way who knew how to treat a lady and actually followed through. He passed away in 1999.

I always thought that I would say yes immediately, but now you have given me an idea. Although we both consider ourselves engaged to one another, he hasn't officially asked. So, when he does, I make him wait!!! I know when he officially asks me, I'll want to say yes right then, but who knows?
