i was on a two year family shared fair and flexible plan with my mom. it was under my name and then she decided (after a year) that she didn't want to be on my plan anymore. we canceled her phone from my plan, and i tried to keep mine, but they didn't have that plan offered anymore.

now when i go to check my balance, they say i owe a $200 cancelation fee, but i think that's unfair since i'm still on sprint, but with a different plan (which wasn't my choice).

what do i do?!

That is in the contract. I think your mom should pay it since she is the one who canceled.

First of all you need to look over the initial contract assuming that you have a copy of it. If in the initial contract involuntary cancelation is something that would get you off of paying that ammount then you may have a case. Spring unfortunately is just trying to recoup its money it invested. Most firms nowadays make money only on the service fees they charge. They sell their phones way below market value and make that up over time through the rates they charge. If you would cancel your plan early then sprint would be out of the money they had paid for the phone or at least some of it.

Well, you say it wasn't your choice - but it was your choice to sign up with your mom, and not Sprint's fault that she and you decided to cancel the plan you had. You signed a contract and then didn't live up to it - so you owe a fee. They aren't screwing you.
