my crazy dance teacher gave us this paper to write... HELP!(pleaase)?

Question

heres what shes asking... and it has to be 3-5 pages and we must use reliable sources (SHES CRAZY!)

what is dance? what does it mean to dance? is there a certain level of movement that must e acheives in order to be considered dance or is anu movement dance?

and please dont answer by saying that i should be doing this my self... trust me ive thought long and hard and just need a few ideas.

Here is a couple of ideas. Dance is expression through movement. Walking isn't dance, cause you walk just to get from point A to point B, no expression involved. Marching to music isn't dance either, because the purpose is the same as walking, but in an organized fashion. Dance, on the other hand, is a movement that expressed a mood, an emotion, possibly tells a story. You can also say that dance is a form of communication, especially if you consider couple dancing. You could elaborate on the point whether or not music is necessary.
As for reliable sources - you could look up the definition of dance in an encyclopedia.

You should probably start out with the origins of dance. A lot of dance was originally for religious purposes. Indians had dances to make it rain or to make the crops grow. They would also dance before going into battle.

I think you should write about it's history and how it effects life and stuff. I recommend you searching dance up on wikipedia.
