because it is a women's choice to to what she wants with her body. aren't we granted the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? like it or not, i think abortion falls under those rights. i'm sorry that people may not agree, but that is what makes america so great, is that i have my opinion and you have yours and they don't have to be the same.

just to say this, i have a one and a half year old and, at one time, i considered abortion. i realized that it was not the right choice for me and i had my daughter. even though i didn't make the choice to terminate, i was glad i was given a choice.

The reason people oppose abortion is because they believe a fetus is a human being and abortion equates to killing a human being (aka murder).

Due to the process of conception, fertilization, etc - humans will NEVER be able to collectively agree on when life actually begins. Some will say it is at conception, some will say it is at birth, some will say it is when the fetus is viable (can live outside the womb)..... Some base their arguments on religion and others on science.

There will never be 100% agreement on when a fetus becomes a human.

Because humans can never collectively agree on when life begins - we have to decide as a society when a fetus becomes a human.

Originally, it was decided that a fetus becomes a human when it is born. Recently, society decided a fetus becomes a human when it is viable and/or when it is born (depending on the circumstances).

Abortion should be legal because there is no proof and never will be that destructing a fetus is murder. If we cannot scientifically prove that removing a fetus is murder - then it should not be outlawed.

In addition, abortion helps with population control. This planet is swelling too fast with humans and we are going to multiply ourselves right into extinction!

I'm going to get yelled at for this, but oh well. Abortion should be legal because we live in a society were people have the right to choose what is best for them. If the government can choose what you can and can't do with your body then what will be after abortion? Next you won't be able to have plastic surgeries or dye your hair. But I don't think that abortion should be used as birth control. maybe it should be regulated by the government. Like if you have more than one, you have to get your tubes tied. I've suggested that before and it has not been well received

I am COMPLETELY pro-choice. Here are my reasons.

1. There is NO way the Man is going to tell me what I will or will not do to my body. If I want an abortion, I should have the right to do so.

2. There are many women who are put into very violent situations, in which a baby is not wanted. The woman involved should have a right to abort an unwanted child.

That being said, I completely disagree with using abortion as a form of birth control. If a woman gets pregnant willingly, she needs to come up with a plan. I don't think that abortion should immediately be 'the way out'.
Also, I really don't think I could ever go through an abortion. I don't like the thought of killing something that's growing in my body. HOWEVER, if I want to do it, that's for ME to decide. I should be able to at least have the option.

Besides, if men were the ones getting pregnant, this would NEVER be an issue.

Abortion should be legal only in certain circumstances for instance if a girl or woman was raped and became pregnant as a result then they should be able to have an abortion. If you have sex willingly with another person without taking the precautionary measures then I don't think it's right for you to kill that child as a result. You knew there was a possibility when you laid down and had sex with or without the precautionary measures that you would become pregnant. You knew what could happen but you decided to have sex anyway.

Abortion was legal before Roe v Wade.
There is nothing in the constitution that addresses abortion.
It is something that should have remained within state laws.
Each state has the right to control what is legal within their state as long as it does not impact interstate commerce.

Before and after (if Roe v. Wade is reversed) abortions will still be legal.

It is something that should be decided by each state, not the federal government.

As much as I don't like abortion, we have to keep it legal because women will use other methods that will not only kill the unborn baby, but the mother too. The back alley abortions were horrendous and until there is more work to stop the pregnancies in the first place, this is something that has to be endured.

There are only two options -- the individual makes the decision whether to be or remain pregnant -- or the govt gets to make it.

If the individual does not have the fundamental right to choose -- meaning the govt cannot make it illegal -- then not being able to choose means the govt can make abortion mandatory just as easily as it can make it forbidden.

Personally, I don't think the govt should be allowed to make either choice -- which means it has to be up to the individual.

Besides, as I'm sure many other people have already noted -- making it illegal doesn't prevent it from happening -- it just prevents it from happening safely.

I have to first say that I strongly believe that I could never go through an abortion.
That being said, I do NOT think that it is the government's job to say what someone can and cannot do to their own body. I believe that your body is the only thing you should have complete and utter control over. It is an invasion of privacy (like the Supreme Court said in the decision of Roe v. Wade).

I think that abortion should not be legal because you are taking away life of another being, a child, a baby. People may think that the mother may not be able to support the child, but they can turn the baby in to a place where other families can take care of the child. And plus, if the lady did not want the babies then why did she do it in the first place?

Not only should it stay legal.......it should be used as birth control if someone wants to. The world is way over populated......I wish that some of these "pro lifers" parents would have used this form of birth control.
