It's ruining my life, I have physical symptoms all day long (NOT panic attacks) and I can't get thoughts out of my head sometimes no matter what I do. I've had every test possible for the physical symptoms and it does not turn up anything. So I don't know what to do. I've been referred to a psychiatrist but the wait is so long I don't want to wait. I'm also depressed from it and I only get worse. I have OCD too. Does anti-anxiety medication work if your not having anxiety attacks? I need help. I always have to be worrying about something, and when I'm not so caught up in my worries I'm doing OCD things (checking, arranging, etc.).

Hi Ryan, I can sympathize with you & you do need to get to a counselor, but I think perhaps a good internist right now could help diagnose you & get you on some meds. Anti-anxiety meds Do Help, but some are addictive. OCD takes longer to work on & get under control...my daughter has it. BUT, there IS help! Please don't give up! There are some good relaxation therapies that can help too.

Call the psychiatrist and see if there's any cancellations so you can get in earlier. You definitely need some meds for relief and a Dr. is the only one who can prescribe. Good luck.

if you choose the medication route, i reccomed Xanax, generic name Alprazolam, it not only stops panic attacks, which you mentioned you do not get, but it takes the edge off completly, and temporarily. although its not a permenent solution, it does seem to help.

a different alternative i reccomend are yoga classes, more specifically Kundalini yoga to heal your aching body and reacing mind. Kundalini yoga combines the postures with chanting, visualization, meditation, and guided relaxation to help heal the body as well as the mind.

good luck, child
