What is the safest amount of time to wait in between pregnancies? I am ready for the next baby, but I don't know when it will be healthy for my body to be pregnant again.

I had my daughter 2 and a half months ago, we were thinking of trying again in January.

I'm assuming you had a normal delivery. It's perfectly fine to go for another baby now. My second baby was born when my first was just 1 year and 2 months old. Now, they're handsome teenagers and they're the best of friends. However, my third was born four years after the second so he's kinda left out.

If you're still young, you can go ahead and have your next child. Mothers' bodies are meant to withstand a lot of rigors! Keep on exercising after childbirth (and even during pregnancy, there are light exercises you can do) to keep your body healthy and firm.

I know more than one couple who waited 9 months and their children are 18 months apart, good age closeness. They didn't have problems with their later pregnancies but it is best you consult with your ob/gyn doctor and see what he says. Many doctors will tell you to wait one year...however you may not get pregnant right away but if you do, your body hasn't recovered from all the work and stress of a pregnancy and birth. You'll probably be healthier and have a healthier second baby if you listen to your doctor and see if he says you are ready or should wait.

thats entirely too soon. wait atleast a year AFTER january to even begin to try again your body needs to heal plus u have to spend time with the new baby before u think of the next baby. plus this way u get to fully enjoy ur next pregnancy : )

Oh I don't know maybe when your husband misses getting blamed for everything including back to school night being canceled because of a flood.
And he misses getting yelled at for getting a food stain on his shirt since you already did the wash that day or he misses your mom calling thirty times a day to see if the baby is moving.
Or he may be missing hereing you say " oh I am so fat!!" when you have only gained twenty pounds at nine months.

Doctors will tell you to wait at least 1 year before trying to conceive again. This allows time for your uterus to return to its normal size and for your cervix to close properly. One risk of having another baby too soon is that you might develop a condition called incompetent cervix, where your cervix hasnt repaired itself yet, and it is not strong enough to keep the baby inside, which results in either pregnancy loss or premature delivery.

Your body will be fine in a year. But will your finances be fine at that time? It takes a lot of money to support one child, much less two, which people tend to forget sometimes.

My doctor told me to wait 12 months, because that's how long it takes for everything to return to it's pre-pregnancy state.
