I want to know what causes scratches most often. I'm a student, so I'll be keeping my 3G nano in my bag often, but I'm not sure how easy it is to scratch one.

I'll probably want to sell it and buy myself a newer model after a year or two, so I'll have to have it in really good condition then. Is it more affordable to get a case, or some scratch remover?

Afterthought: When I mentioned the scratch remover, I was thinking about getting it right before putting the iPod up on sale.
Also, I WOULD like a case, but I'd like a really thin, clear one for ~$10, if it goes that cheap. I'm broke, now :(

Same here, I got my new nano 3 weeks ago and it looks like needles been screetched all over the back. I would get a case, but my parents won't buy one for me. Just buy a case, also before the year that you've purchased it, if the iPod isn't working you can take it back to where you bought it and they'll give you a new one fresh from the box. So when you get the new one (if your current one breaks) make sure you put a case on it....

Here are some great cases...

it is way better to get a case. Not only is it less expensive in the long run, but it is also way easier to care for. Cases also protect the iPod from breaking when they drop, especially a leather or imitation leather case, such as the MadCatz one that i have. It has saved my iPod from cracking right open on a number of occasions (as they have been known to do). A good case will cost you anywhere from $20 to $50, depending on the brand, style, and accessories (such as a belt clip, another handy thing for a case). cheaper ones, usually made out of synthetic rubber are abailable starting at about five bucks.

a case is better. cuz the scratch remover is eventually gona run out and youll have to buy it over and over again. the case most likely lasts forever.
