It won't work directly. A kilogram is a measure of weight, and a cup is a measure of volume. So the conversion has to take into account how dense the material is. A kilogram of rocks does not take up nearly as much space as a kilogram of feathers.

I do not think it is as easy as a straight conversion as kilograms refers to weight and cup is a dry or wet measuement. you would have to know what the substance is and the weight of it before you could convert it.

There is a free to download program on the web called CONVERT, it should do the trick.
