Besides all the sports teams, and concert venues, did you know that Dallas is home to the largest urban arts district in the country? It's true. Plus, all over the city you'll find historic museums, beautiful architecture, rare collections of artwork and stirring performances. Tops among them are the Nasher Sculpture, Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Meadows Museum at SMU, and Fair Park which include besides being the largest collection of Art Deco building you will find anywhere, also houses museums like The Museum of Nature & Science, The Women's Museum (a part of the Smithsonian museums), and The African American Museum. Then are all the fun things, like the sports teams mentioned in another answer earlier, and in Arlington, the original Six Flags over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, and in Grand Prairie Ripley's Believe it of Not and Louis Tussard's Palace of Wax. Of course you can't forget the Dallas Zoo and the Dallas World Aquarium. Then there is the world class Dallas Opera and Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Summer Musicals which gets Broadway musicals as soon as any city in the US besides NYC does. Want to go shopping? Dallas is a shopping Mecca. It also has NASCAR Racing and a Horse racing track. And I haven;t even started on Ft. Worth yet. Oh yes....lots of night life.

I guess it depends what you mean by Tourist Attraction. Theme Parks - Anything in Orlando.
Just generic tourist places? Probably Panama City Beach or Destin, which are both about an hour and a half away.
