I have some great ideas for a blog-type thing, but I am afraid that nobody will follow it. I know it will be interesting, but if it doesn't get any views who will know it's there?
Should I just start, posting videos every day? This way, maybe people would know I was a serious contributor, and actually keep watching?

if its good, it will become a phenomena in no time. Just keep sending it to your friends. If it is really good, they will do all of the work for you. You can also try posting stuff on a social networking page like myspace or friendster. Good luck.

Use tags, 'advertise' on other sites, comment other peoples videos that are similar to yours. Use the internet to your advantage. Basically, promote yourself - put yourself out there. People will eventually catch on.
Also, don't expect to become famous with something someone has already done. If you want to be famous, you can't just copy someone else's idea and fill in your own personality in place of theirs. You need to be original because people aren't going to waste six minutes of their lives watching something they've seen 100 times before.
Don't expect it to be immediate either. It won't happen over night. You need to be consistent, make it bi-monthly, weekly, or whatever fits your schedule. An outside website with more information - along with other things such as better quality versions of your videos (because Youtube sucks for quality) - is always a good idea.

I would get started posting either a lot of videos or a little bit but really good. Especially the homemade videos like you or someone you know singing that the way to my fav list anyway

First off you neeed to become known, advertise your self more often, base your V-log on recent and current events, place opinions...
People search for things that are current and recent more than they just browse youtube,
make a channel and have your friends subscibe to it.
and have thier friends also.
Make it interesting,
Have a nice looking backround in theback, not a messy room, with a broken book shelf,
Do sole Blogging as well! to become discovered, and of course use MySpace Also! and add people like crazy!
and dont forget, do make it a little funny at times, make us laugh and we will come bacl for more!

Make good videos that people will want to watch. When people search YouTube and find your videos, they may be inclined to see what other videos you have.
