I went to the gynocologist b/c i was having an odd discharge. she said she was going to test for infections and do a culture. when the bill came in there was $200 worth of std testing that didnt know she was testing me for. if she would have asked i could have told her there was no way i could have stds b/c i am a virgin & havent had sexual contact. is it my fault for not asking exactly what cultures she was testing me for or hers for not telling me she was testing for stds?

Did you inform her that you are not sexually active? If she didn't know she was just doing what she thought was right in trying to find out what was wrong with you. After all she said that she was going to test for infections. You should have asked what kind of infections?

I think its just lack of communication here and the fact that your doctor wanted to make sure all angles were covered

"test for infections and doing a culture" is what testing for STD's is. Both of these are infections.

Both Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can have an abnormal discharge as a symptom. Your doctor was practicing good medicine by testing for those.

Whenever I have had a doc do testing i was given a list or it was discussed with me so I could be informed. It's not fair to do that kind of testing without talking about it first. I feel the doc should be responsible for doing that.
