You can get a a wireless account through the larger cell phone providers that use the cell towers. It is NOT cheap but it will give you internet in the same places and with the same reliability you get for your cell phone.

I am familiar with Verizon. You can look at theirs at this link...

You can't get internet with the wireless card that's in your laptop. You'll either need a wireless internet account through one of the cell phone providers and a special cell-based wireless card OR a PDA that can act as a modem and have unlimited internet on your plan.

I have an AT&T 8525 phone/PDA with unlimited internet access. I connect it to my laptop with a USB cable and enable internet sharing on the phone. Speed varies widely, from barely dialup speeds in weak signal areas, to around 384k in strong signal areas on the Edge network to over 2.5 mbps in 3G areas. Most major cities have 3G coverage with AT&T.

Basically Wi-Fi is an internet signal broadcasted within an area. Let's say if I buy a wireless router, I get my internet from my computer from it wireless signal. Because I am receiving the signal wirelessly it is called Wi-Fi. Not all areas have Wi-Fi, but you can by a Wi-Fi card, and you can pick up local signals, not all are free though!

if your moving no it wont work because a wireless router where you get your wireless point can only reach a signal of 300 feet after that you would loose signal, the only way it would work is if your computer had a registered internet acess to satellite internet, then maybe it would work
