One of the huge advantages of being a chef is that I have wine agents knocking on my door all the time. I am also invited to wine tastings as well as dinners that serve some wines most will only ever dream about. I love the stuff and I love the way it works with food and if done properly will enhance the experience of both.
I am off to an oyster and wine festival tomorrow and then on Friday I am going to a wine tasting held by the Italian wine council.
I was lucky enough to once try this wine among others at a ollectors dinner I was cooking at, we did 7 courses each with a different wine. There must have been $50,000 worth of wine at that party and it was for 10 people.

Not knowing how much you love it, let me just say that when I lived in California, and my husband made a considerable study of the local wines, I was his eager taste-tester. Oh, of course he tested them too, but he liked to know what an "unsophisticated palate" thought of a given wine. I learned to love a good old Cabernet like . . . well, like classic rock and roll. When Steve died, among other things I inherited a case of Cabernet that was over 20 years old!!! I gave some away after his memorial service, telling people to raise a toast to Steve when they drank it. But when it was all gone, I wished I hadn't been so generous.
Yes, I love a good mellow red wine.

I love it but I'm allergic to it :-(. My faves are Reisling and Moscat (I like sweet stuff).
It's really uncool going to a nice restaurant and not being able to order wine so I get a soda or ice tea instead. However, being able to breathe through dinner makes the experience much better.

Damn girl! You better give that box of white zinfandel a break for a while!
Yeah, I like a good Cabernet with steak. And I LOVE sangria, especially with tapas. No white wine, though.
