Kimi or is it, when will we finally know, god only knows. If it turns out to be Hamilton (and I am British) it would be a travesty added to an already controversial season.

So what happens if Mclaren win the appeal, then Ferrari will appeal and so it will go on. Its frankly pathetic. What the hell is happening to F1 ???

F1 has been taken over by politics. If what you said would be true and hell I don't want it to happen, then Ferrari will appeal and it will take forever. That will happen if politics gets in the way. Remember, Bernie wants Hamilton to win.

But if justice takes over, which has been invisible all throughout the season except on Kimi's victory yesterday, then I believe the appeal won't go through.

I would be suprised if their was a change to the points for the key players involved. As to the fuel issue itself, there is question as to what the actual ambient temperature was, which makes it hard to declare that the three mentioned were definitely above or beneath it to a degree that is in violation; second, there has been no evidence that it was intentional (had very high heat that weekend, and it could easily be something beyond their control the fuel rig having sat in the sun or something like that); and there is no evidence that the cars in question gained an advantage because of this.

Due to sponsors and commitments and everything at stake, Mclaren are right to appeal, but I wonder if they would actually want to win? I suppose at least to some degree, but it would leave a stain on the championship... much as would have Kimi winning if Hamilton and Alonso had been thrown out of the championship over the spy scandal.

So, with the spy scandal as one reference point where FIA have already pushed clear of the driver's championship this year, and one where they probably had more reason to intervene, I think this incident goes in line more with the Friday incident of Hamilton and the extra set of tires, where some fine may be handed to the teams.

And looking back in history at fuel sample issues, if it is determined there was an advantage, then the three could be excluded... but in the past when this has happened, they were simply excluded and no change was made to the points other drivers earned.

For now, yes. But Lewis may still stand a chance since McLaren appealed. I hope Kimi gets to keep his title. Even Alonso has said that if Lewis wins in the end, it'll be an embarassment to the sport.

However, Lewis told BBC radio on Tuesday he had no interest in winning the 2007 world drivers' championship by disqualification of other drivers. His words were "To have the world title taken away is a bit cruel and probably not good for the sport," Hamilton told 5live Sport. "It would feel weird after Kimi did such a fantastic job in the last two races and won on Sunday."

Well, so I guess Kimi will get to keep the title!

Yeah that's true, I am also sick of the crap coming out of what we apparently call Formula 1. Hey maybe they can make one sport called "The Politics of Formula 1" and another actually called Formula 1 so we can have our peace and watch the things decided ON track. And while the rest of them (meaning Bernie, Max and the FIA) can fight it out on the The Politics of Formula 1. But rest assured, if McLaren wins, Ferrari will most likely appeal with the basis of Hamilton not penalised with 10 grids. Man you are right, this is pathetic. Believe it or not, I think Formula 1 with all the politics is driving away audiences or more likely to in the near future... For Hamilton to win this way, he should be ashamed if he has any dignity and integrity. Kimi deserves his crown.

Hi, Kimi now is the official champion of the season, the claim later on after the race had nothing to do with Ferrari´s or McLaren´s team it had to do with the temperature of the petrol in Rosberg´s and Kubica´s cars, and finally the FIA people decided not to even open up an investigation, so..... Kimi is officially the winner of the 2007 championship. I would have loved Hamilton to be the winner to be honest even though I´m a Ferrari follower, but I have to admit that Ham has been a GREAT rookie and a great sportsman too, and also I CANNOT STAND ALONSO. So, lets hope Ham keeps it up for next year...

Looks like it will be. Even if the appeal is considered, the same logic that saved Alonso and Hamilton for the drivers points stands. It wasnt the driver's fault that there was a fuel irregularity. So the worst case scenario is that the teams will be docked points and/or fined.

The initial investigation ended with the clause of the familiar "insufficient evidence". What are the chances that new evidence will "emerge"? Everything looks in Kimi's favor.

It is for now but it's hanging in the balance due to McLaren's appeal against Williams and BMW. I'm surprised they haven't filed an appeal of their own. F1 is now becoming a crasy circus where stewards decisions can be overturned if an appeal goes through. It's just crzy esp if it decides the championship

Kimi is great.. but sincerely if no-one else got through without penalties why should the others be alowed to break rules?
The problem is it may become a trend and pretty soon many rules will be overlooked because someone else was. If MacLaren had to be careful with equal cars and set of tyres etc etc.. fuel rules for other drivers should also be respected.
Found it suspiscious how the three cars in front of Hamilton were suddenly so un-catchable!

I agree with Firefox here. The drivers are completely blameless, as was Lewis with the tyres controversy in free practise. In that case the teams involved were fined and as such a similar, if indeed any, punishment should apply.
If Mclaren are successful with their appeal, and I sincerely hope they aren't, then this season will be dragged even further into the gutter.

it should be kimi's. i think mclaren are appealing because the stewards didn't do anything to the bmw and williams. (something with the fuel) if mclaren are sucessful, which i doubt because theres a slim chance. then ferrari should appeal. i know it will go on forever but in ferrari eyes they won't care, kimi deserved it more than anyone this season even lewis and nows its been taken anyway from him why ? because mclaren appealed. kimi should get it and ferrari should appeal if it were to be taken away from him. he will be on tears kimi.
