"Street" racing where people just do their outlaw-style stuff on public roads is definately bad ... it's just dangerous and innocent bystanders get hurt. (I could care less if the racers kill themselves... that's like darwin-ism at work!)

On the Isle of Man TT, riders go balls-out over a 37-mile (or so) street course. There are no spectators in the way, the roads are closed, and the surfaces are cleaned. There are corner marshals available to inform riders of danger and to flag any section that needs it.

The top road racers (i.e. Moto GP, WSBK, etc.) won't even THINK about racing it. As "safe" as the promoters have made the course, and even without anything else to get in the riders' way, one mistake can mean DEATH.

In fact, the now closed Suzuka circuit is no longer used for top level motorcycle racing simply due to the lack of runoff areas; and it's a RACE track.

So your question boils down to this: "Is taking a motorcycle that squids can't ride and going fast on a public road with no runoff areas, no marshals to flag an area with water or gravel, no control over the surface, no practice, street lights, pedestrians, other cars and COPS a bad thing to do?"

If you really have to ask that question, you shouldn't be on a motorcycle. Squids with Butt Jewelry give us all a bad name and perpetuate the negative stereotype that motorcycles are dangerous.

If you want to race, take it to the track and stop playing like a little boy on your Schwinn. "But WAAAH! It costs money to do that!" So did your $900 exhaust, your $500 steering stabilizer, your $100 carbon fiber windscreen, $400 Power Commander, and hundreds more in worthless bling.

Unless you're afraid of REAL riders exposing what a squid you are, of course.

I am 46. I spent over 20 years performing motorcycle stunts for a living.. I was one of those "Knievel Clones" in the 80's.
Had a world record and not a lot of fame for my name...
Anyway, I decided to put myself on the map in my town by terrorizing the locals and cops and did cute things like wheelying down the freeway going the wrong way, riding through all the malls and getting in high speed pursuits with the cops. This was back in the late 70's when traffic was NOTHING compared to now. When the cops FINALLY figured out who I was, they tried to slap an "attempted man slaughter" charge on me cause of all the scared folks and complaints. FORTUNATELY I never hurt anyone or I think they would have pushed the issue. As it is today, its just too damned busy out there to F around with a car or a motorcycle. If you do race and IF you do cause a crash or get in one and IF someone does get killed, they are starting to charge these offenses as MURDER... First degree murder!
Show your real set of balls and qualify at a REAL RACE TRACK and ya, it takes more skill and money, but I'd rather be a track hero than a typical hick who F'd up whats left of his life here on planet earth... any day! Street racing is deadly and worst...Its totally ORDINARY!!! (Ya, I stole that line from "American Beauty!"

Yes, street racing is very dangerous. I like fast cars as much as the next guy, but there is a time and place. If there were more places to race that were safe to run at night for a minimal fee, it would'nt be as big an issue. I'm all up for a pissing contest.

It's ok to choose to take risks. It is bad when you choose to involve other people in your risk taking. I know a guy who was killed by a car that was racing another car on a city street. He didn't choose to be involved in the risk of a street race, he just wanted to cross the street.

OK the truth it is bad why because the racers in the majority they don´t responsible when they going race their cars, the adrenaline goes up they don´t have any precaution and there are many dead because they are very irresponsible and crashed with others cars or persons, houses etc etc.
When you are watching you are very excited but the other persons they dint have much control.
That's why the government built many racers cars in the special roads

My dad always told me there was no such thing as a dumb question. Well, he was wrong. I did it when I was younger and only by the grace of God did I not kill myself or worse someone else. Racing is dangerous enough in a controlled environment let alone on a public road where you have no control over other people and/or objects.

I think it is very unsafe. My boyfriends great-grandfather was in a horrible accident because of people street racing. They hit him head on. He almost died and one of the racers actually died.

Racing is fine, but it should be done in a secure area with paramedics standing by, just in case. Too many innocent people could get hurt if you just do it wherever you feel like.

His election extra the racists out contained interior the open so human beings now have a greater precise assessment of techniques plenty there is. human beings stated the civil rights bypass contained interior the 1960? bigger the racism too, yet relatively they basically uncovered it which became the 1st step in ending it. I anticipate two decades from now the we are able to make certain this era as a time like we now see the 1960 in recovering race family members members.

yanno what? because of squids like u, florida is seriously considering a bill that will cause u severe pain...pain worse than road rash.......they will not only arrest u, but they will CONFISCATE ur bike, and it will be subject to FORFEITURE. also, they will REVOKE ur license to ride a motorcycle for 10 YEARS if u are.......being reckless, or u are riding 30 mph or more over the speed limit, or both. if this bill gets signed into law, it will take effect on oct of 2008.

when are u squids going to learn that us riders are a MINORITY. cagers and other non riding public see u do this and they are screaming at the lawmakers to do something about it....and yanno what....seems like florida is fixin to do just that. if florida passes this, i wouldnt be surprized if california will follow suit. if u think helmet laws suck, u aint seen nuttin yet. u'll really be whinnin if a florida judge orders ur bike forfeited, and guess what else.......there is no 1st time leniency in this bill either. u get busted just once, and kiss the bike bye bye.
