Winter in the northern hemisphere begins on Dec 21, not in October. How exactly will the launch of the space shuttle "usher in winter"?

STS-120 will start a challenging 14-day construction flight.
The astronauts have numerous duties - robotic arm work, spacewalk choreography, help to move an old U.S. solar power tower, and install the new Harmony connecting node.

I don't see anything in the mission plan about changes to the Earth's tilt (the only way you could change winter's arrival).

The weather forecast for tomorrow's shuttle launch is beginning to look pretty bleak, so I'll be surprised if they DO launch.
How do they plan to usher in winter?
Doubtful, at best.
You can't change the weather, man.
