Oh how sad for you. You'll forgive me, but I don't make it a habit of having sympathy for thieves. If the did find out, you're lucky they didn't have you arrested. Stealing internet service is the same as stealing cable now. Shame on you!!!

Go to start --> run and type "cmd" (without quotes). Then "ipconfig". If your IP address starts with 169. then you are not getting a proper IP and will not be able to access the internet. Try deleting the preferred network from your settings and re-establish a brand new connection. if that doesn't work then you may be out of luck.

i have the same problem sometimes. first make sure that it is the same network you are connecting to. second they might have their internet shut off. you can have a wireless network without having the internet. so chances are they probably have their internet shut off or you are picking up another wireless network. if they have a WAP key you would not even be able to connect unless you had the pass word.

Well, it's shame on them for not encrypting their wireless internet, but I guess they got smart. Oh well... if you're still looking for cheap internet, you can always go to a wi-fi spot in town or do what I do when I'm away from home and use my cell phone for internet on my laptop. It's slow (dial-up) but it works.

Obviously, the neighbors became aware of your incursion and secured their router. Unless they are willing to give you the appropriate passwords, you are going to have to get your own internet

maybe they should have a password. i would consider that stealing. but i guess i would do that too if i was in college or something and needed to lighten up on bills. when you get your own wi-fi, get a password

I suppose that you realise that it is a criminal offence to piggy-back off your neighbours connexion..it carries a custodial sentence!
