it's funny how every stinkin' con touts bush and the republican party for their actions against terrorism. it's funny how cons say that libs are weak against terrorists. yet, when someone says that the gop allowed the borders to stay open they mention democratic presidents.

may i remind all of the posters above me about 9-11. those borders between the usa and mexico should have been sealed tight as a drum. all the money spent in iraq and not much for actual us border security. hire blackwater or whitewater or somebody. why was bush pushing for amnesty. funny stuff in the water in crawford or something?

good question, i heard the piggies squealing.

In order for ANYTHING to be done about illegal immigration, you need to get enough support in Congress plus have a bill the President will sign. If it's that big of an issue to you, I would recommend writing your senator and/or representative and ask them to support any measure about illegal immigration.

I say any measure, because even if it's not the measure you would like, wouldn't you rather see SOMETHING than nothing.

If the measure is less than ideal, you can lobby for changes. But change has to start somewhere.

Oh no, they did lots of things.

Most of them bad, but that's another issue.

The last two years of the Bush administration will be pretty ineffective, simply because anything of any import will be blocked by the minority.

The idea that a minority blocked Senate prevents Congress from doing anything useful isn't completely true. For instance, the Welfare bills passed during the Clinton administration were fought over bitterly, but people now generally say those bills have been useful.

Borders were open the last administration too. Not a damn thing was done then either. This illegal problem is not new. Are you hoping to get all issues taken care in case a democrat gets in and they can spend all their time screwing around?

It has been a problem since the Reagan administration, when the Democrats pardoned all of the illegal immigrants in the early-mid 80's.

It is better to do nothing than to hold costly hearings into garbage that nobody cares about anyway (Plame, Gonzales). Why does the Democratic Congress have such a low approval rating compared to the Republican-controlled one that was booted out?

Illegal immigration did not start the year Bush took office. Of when his father took office. Why didn't Carter do anything about it?

Yes the GOP did nothing now the Democrats are doing the same. There are allot of issues that need to be undone, such as NAFTA, but your right I do not have much faith in this country's governance anymore.

Somewhat. But the current "lied and done nothing" liberal one is the one that promised all these things and hasn't delivered. Say goodbye to them in '08. Comrade Red (Reid) and Peloser will go back to speaking when spoken to.
